Like, from what I’ve gathered, this bag is supposed to be kinda like, the chameleon of the Dior family. You can, like, *wear* it. Crazy, right? I mean, all bags are *meant* to be worn, but they really want you to wear it all the time. Day, night, weekend – apparently, it’s down for whatever. It’s trying to be that best friend you can always rely on, you know? Which is a *big* claim, Dior.
And get this, they even made a whole little mini-movie about how they make the bag. Like, from the very *beginning*. From the first sketch to the finishing touches. It’s probably all dramatic and stuff, like “ooh, the artistry!” and “aah, the dedication!” I haven’t actually seen it, but I bet it’s totally mesmerizing, and *totally* makes you want the bag even more. Clever marketing, Dior, *clever*. I mean, the bag is probably expensive enough, without them making me cry at work and wanting to buy it.
Now, I did see one description of a blue leather Be Dior, from some Spring/Summer 2015 collection (Raf Simons era!). Silver hardware, handle, adjustable shoulder strap…sounds pretty classic, right? I mean, blue leather can be a bit much, but with silver, it could work. Depends on the blue, tbh. The adjustable strap is key, though. I hate bags that are like, “this is the length, deal with it.” No thanks.
Here’s my somewhat informed, slightly tipsy opinion. I think the Be Dior is trying to be too many things at once. “Casual touch” mixed with “brand traditions”? It sounds like a recipe for “kind of boring” or “not quite sure what it wants to be”. But, maybe, *just maybe*, that’s the point. It’s trying to be a blank canvas, a classic Dior piece that can be styled up or down. It is a Dior, so it has to have something that makes it stand out.
