That’s where the whole “look alike” thing comes in. You see all these articles popping up about Goyard alternatives, right? Bags, mostly. Tote bags specifically. FARFETCH is drooling over French leather and trunk makers (who cares?). Someone else is all, “Upgrade to the Saint Louis PM! Eventually!” (Yeah, right, when pigs fly). And then there’s Jane Marvel, bless her heart, curating a whole encyclopedia of designer dupes.
But what about the *hats*? Seriously. Everyone forgets the hats! Okay, maybe “everyone” is a slight exaggeration. Maybe it’s just *I* keep forgetting about the hats. But I *like* the hats!
See, the Goyardine canvas? It’s not just for totes, y’know? They slap it on everything. Wallet, dog collars (seriously?), and yeah, hats. Those little bucket hats? So cute! But, again, $$$!
So, I’ve been doing some digging… And it’s surprisingly hard to find a *decent* Goyard hat “dupe.” Bags? Easy peasy. Hats? Crickets. What gives?
I think it’s because the pattern is *so* distinctive. It’s not just a color thing, it’s the texture, the spacing, the whole vibe. You can’t just slap some vaguely similar chevron pattern on a cheap hat and call it a day. It’ll look…well, cheap. And that’s the opposite of what we’re going for, right? We want “luxury alike,” not “dollar store disaster.”
My opinion? If you’re gonna go for the hat dupe, you gotta focus on the *shape*. Find a good quality bucket hat, maybe in a neutral color like cream or beige. Then, MAYBE… and I’m saying MAYBE… you could try getting it custom painted or embroidered with a similar (but not *identical*) pattern. Keyword: similar. Identical will probably get you sued, or at least publicly shamed by some fashion snob.
