I stumbled across this site, prefabsprout.net, the other day. I think it’s called sproutology.com now? Or something like that. Anyway, it’s like, the *place* for anything and everything Sprout related. News, interviews, the whole shebang. And honestly, it’s kinda a goldmine.
Look, Prefab Sprout, they’re not exactly mainstream are they? They’re this kinda, quirky, way-smarter-than-your-average-pop-band kinda band. Paddy McAloon, he’s the brains behind it all, right? Apparently, he just turned 60… or is about to turn 61? I can’t remember, the article I was reading was a bit confusing. Time flies, eh? Speaking of Paddy, the man’s a genius. I mean, seriously. A *pop* genius.
And, get this, they’re even doing something for #NationalAlbumDay over in the UK! Which, like, good for them! A limited edition picture disc of “Steve McQueen” (or “Two Wheels Good,” depending on where you’re from) which is awesome, because that album is just… *chef’s kiss*. I mean, what’s not to like?
But back to the website. It’s kinda… well, let’s be honest, it’s a bit clunky. Not gonna lie. But, hey, it’s got the goods. Plus, you can find some old videos of them playing on “The Tube,” which is hilarious. Who even remembers “The Tube?” Old school, man. Old School. And, you know, the design might be, well, “vintage,” but who cares? It’s all about the music, right?
I mean, you can find all this stuff on Discogs, too, but this site… I dunno, it just feels more… *dedicated*. More like it’s made by people who actually *get* Prefab Sprout. You know? Like, they *understand* the whole McAloon vibe.
