So, like, I was scrolling through Vestiaire Collective the other day (because, you know, responsible adulting involves browsing pre-loved designer goods… right?), and I saw it. A flash of chic. A whisper of luxury. A leather Dior scarf that practically screamed, “Take me home and wrap me around your neck, darling!”
Now, I’m not usually one for scarves. They always seem to end up strangling me subtly or falling off into a puddle. But THIS. This wasn’t your grandma’s scratchy wool number. We’re talking supple, potentially-smelling-amazing leather. Probably lambskin, if I had to guess. And, let’s be honest, anything Dior touches turns to gold…or, in this case, really expensive leather.
Here’s the thing though. A *leather* scarf? Is it practical? Probably not. Is it a statement? Absolutely. Is it possibly the most extra thing you can wear around your neck besides, you know, a small, well-behaved poodle? I’m leaning towards yes.
And that’s what I kinda love about it. It’s so unapologetically…DIOR. It’s like, “I’m rich, I’m fabulous, and I’m going to wear a leather scarf because I CAN.” And honestly, who am I to judge? I mean, a girl can dream, can’t she?
But here’s where my brain does a little jig. What do you even WEAR it with? A leather jacket? Too much, surely. A delicate silk blouse? Maybe? A crisp white shirt? That could actually work. Or maybe you just throw it on with jeans and a t-shirt and let the scarf do all the talking. It’s probably capable.
I’m also wondering about the upkeep. Leather needs love, people. Conditioning, polishing, avoiding spilled lattes… It’s a commitment. Is a Dior leather scarf a commitment I’m ready for? Probably not financially, let’s be brutally honest. But a girl can dream, right? I keep going back to Vestiaire just to look at them.
Plus, buying pre-loved is kinda the way to go these days, don’t you think? Better for the planet and all that jazz. And you can snag a real gem for a (slightly) less eye-watering price.
